Dennis Hastert's hush-money sentencing delayed until April

A judge has agreed to delay Dennis Hastert's sentencing in a hush-money case after his attorneys said the former U.S. House Speaker nearly died last November.

Hastert's attorneys asked the judge to delay Hastert's Feb. 29 sentencing because of his recent hospitalization for a stroke and spinal and blood infections.

Hastert's lawyers say the 74-year-old Republican's mental state is good but that he is nearly immobile. They also say he has been unable to prepare with them for sentencing.

Hastert has pleaded guilty to breaking banking laws as he sought to pay someone $3.5-million to conceal "prior misconduct."   The sentencing has been set for April 8th.
