High Legionella bacteria levels in school cooling systems

The CEO of a suburban Chicago school district says elevated levels of Legionella bacteria discovered at three schools is limited to the buildings' cooling systems.

U-46 CEO Tony Sanders says none of the approximately 3,000 students evacuated from Eastview Middle School and Larkin and Gifford high schools in Elgin have reported becoming ill.

The schools and the district offices were evacuated and closed for the day this morning after the elevated levels were discovered during annual air quality testing.
