The U.S. Bureau of Prisons says former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has officially completed his prison sentence for spending $750,000 in campaign money on personal items.
The Democrat's home confinement in Washington was lifted today and his ankle monitor removed.
Inmates whose release dates fall on a Sunday are always released two days earlier.
Jackson, the son of civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
With credit for good behavior and other factors, he served a year and a half behind bars, then six months in a halfway house and home confinement.
Jackson's wife must report to prison soon to serve a one-year sentence on a tax conviction related to the campaign money.
