Chicago woman is charged after striking 2 people on flight

A 25-year-old woman is accused of striking another passenger and a flight attendant, forcing a Chicago-bound American Airlines flight to be diverted to Indianapolis.

Indianapolis International Airport Police say Daniela Velez-Reyes of Chicago is charged with disrupting a commercial flight, criminal recklessness, multiple battery counts, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Velez-Reyes became unruly on the flight Monday, and hit the two others while being restrained and moved to the rear of the plane.

She also kicked a police officer who boarded the plane and took her into custody.  Velez-Reyes is being held in the Marion County Jail arrestee processing center in Indianapolis.

The flight that originated in Miami resumed after a 90-minute delay.
