Second City says the improv comedy troupe will reopen a few days earlier than anticipated after a fire destroyed its offices in Chicago.
Second City CEO Andrew Alexander said the theaters were in good condition after the fire but that carpet, wiring and lighting had to be replaced. The fire started in the kitchen of a restaurant next door to Second City and spread.
The first performance will be Thursday at its MainstageTheatre. It will be a private show to benefit Chicago firefighters. Four firefighters were injured in the Aug. 26 blaze.
Second City's UP Comedy Club will begin performances Sept. 22 and the troupe's e.t.c. theater will resume its shows on Sept. 24.
