Renovation project on track at University of Illinois arena

The University of Illinois official in charge of a $165 million renovation of the State Farm Center says the project will be 80% complete when the arena opens on Dec. 2.

Crews have been working to demolish old seating and pour concrete in the arena. Upgrades to the stadium include improved student seating, additional bathrooms and new concessions.

Senior associate athletics director Warren Hood said the renovations are currently about 64% done, and the project is on budget and on schedule.
