Democratic party not endorsing specific candidates in upcoming primary

The Cook County Democratic party is deciding not to endorse in two big races in the upcoming primary.

US Representative Tammy Duckworth was one of five candidates for U-S Senate trying today to convince fellow Democrats that she’s their best chance to unseat Republican Senator Mark Kirk.

"I take a lot of his positives off the table and focus it on the issues, he’s not gonna be able to rest on his military record with me."

Former leader of the Chicago Urban League, Andrea Zopp was another candidate.

"I’m the only candidate with the resources that will be there to bring out minority voters, to get them excited into this race we need them for all of our ticket."

But in the end, the party decided not to endorse anyone, they’re leaving the race for Cook County state’s attorney as an open primary, too.  According to a party spokesman, that’s become more common lately.
