Bloomington zoo to hold groundbreaking for flamingo exhibit

Miller Park Zoological Society

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - A groundbreaking ceremony for a central Illinois zoo's flamingo exhibit is set for the afternoon. Officials with Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington have planned the event for 1 p.m. Monday.  Zoo officials say the exhibit will be completed in about two months and is expected to open to the general public by spring next year.

The Miller Park Zoo received a $50,000 contribution from the Ewing Zoo Foundation for the exhibit.  The zoo will also get money from the city of Bloomington and the Miller Park Zoological Society. Construction of the project was approved last year.
