McLean County officials say an inspection found no malfunctions in an elevator involved in a deadly accident earlier this week.
Meanwhile, McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis says a Wednesday autopsy found 56-year-old employee John Hoeniges of Bloomington died of blunt trauma and compressional asphyxia.
He was killed Tuesday at the bottom of an elevator shaft at the Law and Justice Center. Hoeniges was last seen by witnesses heading toward the elevator shaft. Co-workers later discovered the accident.
The coroner says all indications are that Hoeniges' death was an accident. Hoeniges worked for McLean County for seven years. He was a maintenance mechanic.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor, Illinois Department of Labor and Illinois State Fire Marshal's office are investigating the death.
