Rauner reacts to recent approval rating

In the two months Governor Bruce Rauner has been in office, the Republican's approval rating has taken a bit of a dip, according to several recent surveys.

The governor's current job approval rating sits around 36%, a full 20 points behind Democrats like President Obama or Illinois Senator Dick Durbin.  But Rauner says he's not worried.

"*laughs* I say polls go up and down and I would never lead or manage based upon polls. As I've said right from the beginning, change is hard and discipline is unpopular, saying no is unpopular ... I'm not going to be Mr. Popularity this year."

Rauner has riled Democrats, continuing to push conservative ideas like right-to-work zones, which would weaken unions in Illinois and drawing a hard line on reducing state spending without proposing any new revenue sources.
