Rauner touts Right To Work

Governor Bruce Rauner has been traveling the state laying out his vision for creating a more pro-business climate in Illinois.  Monday the governor toured a transportation company in St. Anne which is looking to expand.

Hoekstra Transportation is a family-owned trucking company that’s outgrowing its current facility in St. Anne.  Steve Hoekstra, the 4th generation president of the company, told Governor Rauner that the company’s  employees and the location are great for his business… but that being in Illinois puts his company at a disadvantage.

Governor Rauner echoed Hoekstra’s concerns, and said neighboring states have a more pro-business climate.

“You know Indiana’s gone Right To Work.  Michigan’s gone right to work.  Wisconsin’s going right to work this week.  Iowa’s been right to work for years, that’s why they have one of the lowest unemployment rates in America.  In Kankakee County, I think you should be able to decide if you want to be right to work, employment flexibility or not.”

The Governor is also calling for a reduction in workers comp costs, unemployment insurance costs and property taxes.
