Parents of Michael Brown plan to sue city of Ferguson

Former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson will not face criminal charges for shooting and killing Mike Brown in August, but he may still end up in a courtroom over the incident.
Attorneys for Brown’s parents announced Thursday they plan to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Wilson. Daryl Parks says the family was disappointed that the Justice Department believed Wilson was acting in self-defense. But Parks says they are vindicated by a scathing report about the Ferguson police.

“It’s important to remember that the things that they have found within the Ferguson police department were the same culture that existed the day on Aug 9th as officer Darren Wilson met Michael Brown in that street.”

Parks says the culture of that department needs to change quickly for the safety of Ferguson residents. City officials would not comment on the potential lawsuit because it has not yet been filed.
