IDOT making Thanksgiving travel a little easier

Road construction is coming to a holiday halt.  The hold takes effect Wednesday afternoon, and goes through midnight Sunday.

Over the river, and through the woods, to grandmothers’ house – or wherever – you go, you’re not alone. Thanksgiving a is time for travel.

Recognizing that, the Illinois Department of Transportation is suspending most roadwork, and where possible, reopening closed lanes. It’s meant to help ease congestion. But speeders beware.

State police are expected to be out on highways. And even if  crews aren’t at work, posted construction zone speed limits, and the fines incurred if you’re caught surpassing them, remain in effect.
