Natural Fiber Welding is opening a 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility just south of downtown Peoria.
The new manufacturing space in the SC2 Logistics building, 801 SW Jefferson, will create more than 100 new jobs as NFW expands its production of Mirum, a plant-based artificial leather.
The company was founded in 2015 by Dr. Luke Haverhals, a Bradley University professor who is now NFW's CEO.
“This is an exciting step for NFW as we are now firmly in the commercialization and scaling phase of our company,” said Haverhals in a prepared statement.
The company was first based in the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center, later moving to a facility on Galena Road. The company currently has 80 full-time employees.
Mirum is used in production of clothing, shoes, and automobiles.
