The Peoria County coroner has identified the man found stabbed to death in a North Peoria home.

William Marshall, 92, was found Wednesday morning in a residence in the 500 block of East High Point Place.

County Coroner Jamie Harwood, in a written release Thursday, said Marshall was “a distinguished and well-respected retired local physician.”

According to Harwood, Marshall died after being stabbed in the front and back multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:12 a.m.

Harwood said additional details are being withheld at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. The Peoria Police Department is seeking relevant security camera footage from nearby residents.

Marshall’s death is Peoria’s first 2021 homicide.
