2 Peoria Mayoral Candidates Face Petition Challenges

Rev. Chuck Brown, left, and Couri Thomas.

Two Peoria mayoral candidates face petition challenges in their attempt to appear on the February 2021 primary ballot.

Anthony Walraven is claiming neither Couri Thomas nor the Rev. Chuck Brown had enough valid signatures to appear on the ballot, according to Peoria County Election Commission Executive Director Thomas Bride.

A hearing on the challenges is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in Peoria County Courthouse room 403, immediately following the Election Commission's regular December meeting.

No other petition challenges were filed for the primaries, Bride said.

Chama St. Louis, Rita Ali, Jim Montelongo, Andres Diaz, and Sid Ruckriegel also are running for Peoria mayor.
