A 22-year-old man faces charges after leading police across several Tazewell County communities in pursuit of a stolen RV.

The Pekin Police Department said John J. Lewis stole an RV in Groveland on Tuesday afternoon. It was spotted headed north on Route 29 near Twin Lakes. The North Pekin and Creve Coeur police departments followed Lewis as he turned onto Wesley Road, then headed south onto Route 29 into Pekin.

Lewis reportedly struck a vehicle at 5th and Ann Eliza. The driver of the vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries. Police said Lewis then drove the RV across Margaret, where it came to a stop after striking a generator in the parking lot adjacent to CenturyLink.

After a foot chase, Lewis was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated reckless driving, no valid driver's license, and several other traffic offenses.
