Chuck Grayeb Running For Another Term as 2nd District Councilman

Chuck Grayeb

Second District Councilman Chuck Grayeb says he wants to serve on the Peoria City Council another four years.

Grayeb was first elected to represent the Second District in 2013. The district includes the West Bluff and parts of Central Peoria. Before that, he served as an at-large councilman from 1995 to 2007.

"I will continue to fight hard for our people and will always place priority on insuring that we are safe in our neighborhoods, with an eye on continuing to grow our medical community which is now our number one employer," said Grayeb in a social media post.

Grayeb said keeping the Peoria Ag Lab on University open is another priority. The USDA lab has faced potential closure in several recent federal budget cycles.

During city budget talks around the horseshoe over the past several months, Grayeb has been perhaps the most vocal opponent of cutting public safety funding as the city sought to close a multimillion-dollar revenue gap created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grayeb's announcement also puts to bed rumors he was planning a run for mayor.

Peter Kobak is also running for the Second District seat. He previously ran for an at-large seat in 2019.
