Centers for Disease Control Public Library

Peoria County now has its first positive case of COVID-19.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 12 new cases Monday, bringing the statewide total to 105 across 15 counties.

The Peoria City/County Health Department said the person was screened over the phone and tested at home by OSF Healthcare. The Peoria County resident is currently in isolation at home recovering.

The health department is notifying everyone who may have had exposure to this person recently.

Central Illinois' first positive COVID-19 case was a Woodford County man in his 70s tested Friday. In the Tri-County area, Peoria City/County Health Department administrator Monica Hendrickson said there are two positive cases, five negative cases, and 25 pending.
