The landscape around Bradley University may soon change with the addition of a new privately-owned 4 to 5 story student housing complex.
Second District councilman Chuck Grayeb said a Florida-based developer is eyeing the southeast corner of Bradley Avenue and Duryea for the new apartments, dubbed the "Edison at Bradley Student Luxury Apartments."
"It's not a Bradley project per se, but it is a private entity that is interested in erecting, so they say, upscale luxury student residents for Bradley students at that site," he said.
Grayeb said he's seen two concept drawings for the proposed complex. He said it would require far fewer zoning variances than the Main Street Commons erected in 2012.
The project's developer, architect, and engineer will host an open house at the Fieldhouse on March 9 at 7 p.m. to give the community a chance to learn more about the housing complex.
