Bustos Raises Big in Third Quarter

U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos raised more than $1.5 million in this third quarter of this year.

Fundraising numbers were submitted to the Federal Election Commission Tuesday.

Bustos is also the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. She spent $1.1 million in the 3rd quarter, leaving her with $2.6 million cash on hand.

Her Republican challenger, Esther Joy King, raised just over $120,000 in the third quarter. She said that’s about 20 percent above the goal she set for herself in the first 40 days of her campaign.

Three other GOP challengers for the seat didn’t report any raised funds.

The 17th Congressional District includes parts of Peoria, East Peoria, and Pekin.

18th District Congressman Darin LaHood raised more than $400 thousand dollars in the third quarter. He has more than $2 million cash-on-hand.

LaHood announced his re-election campaign in August. So far, LaHood has no primary or general election challengers.
