National Publication Ranks Peoria Hospitals

WCBU News/Jeff Smudde

Peoria’s largest hospitals have earned distinction in an annual health care review. U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospital analysis says OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is the sixth-best hospital in Illinois. UnityPoint Health in Peoria is ranked 18th.

U.S News has evaluated thousands of hospitals nationwide for 30 years. The survey ranks best hospitals based on reviews in 16 specialties.

OSF Saint Francis earned a national rating for gynecology and high performing marks in nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery and pulmonary and lung surgery. OSF also earned high performance marks in seven procedure areas - abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.

UnityPoint Health-Peoria received high performing marks in four procedure areas - heart failure, hip and knee replacement, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.

Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital was named the top hospital in Illinois, and was rated 10th overall nationwide.

The 2020 edition of Best Hospitals will be published by U.S. News and World Report in September.
