UnityPoint Health - Methodist

UnityPoint Health is planning to merge with Sanford Health of South Dakota.

The merger would make the new health system one of the 15 largest non-profit systems in the nation, with more than $11 billion in combined annual revenue.

Under the proposed merger, Sanford Health president Kelby Krabbenhoft would be president and CEO. UnityPoint CEO Kevin Vermeer would serve as vice president.

The merged health system would employee 83,000 people and more than 2,600 doctors in 26 states, including Illinois.

UnityPoint Health currently runs Methodist, Proctor and Pekin Hospital in Central Illinois.

The companies hope to clear the regulatory process and close the merger by the end of 2019.
