The National Weather Service office in Lincoln confirms two tornadoes touched down in central Illinois Saturday night as storms swept through the region.

A twister near South Pekin in Tazewell County destroyed a shed, uprooted trees and downed power lines near Highway 29, north of Christmas Tree Road.

The second tornado was confirmed two miles west-southwest of Shirley in rural McLean County.

Both twisters were rated EF-1, capable of producing moderate damage with winds as high as 110 miles-per-hour.
