For Father's Day, Black Justice Project Is Bailing Dads Out of Peoria County Jail

Peoria County

PEORIA -- The Black Justice Project is looking to bail some dads out of the Peoria County Jail for Father’s Day.

Chama St. Louis says her group did something similar for Mother’s Day this year. They asked the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office which inmates were bondable, selected which inmates to help after researching their backgrounds, and raised the money to bond them out.

“We tried to locate their families so that when they actually showed up to the jail, their families were in tow, they were with us, and just surprise them and bonding them out," she said.

The Black Justice Project then gave the families gift cards to buy groceries and go shopping for needed items.

You can learn more on their Facebook page for more information on the Father’s Day bail event.
