Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady Dies

Peoria County

PEORIA -- Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady died Thursday at age 70.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Brady died at home peacefully, surrounded by family, just before 5:45 p.m.

"Jerry was a distinguished leader in Peoria County. He was not only my colleague, he was my dear friend and mentor," said Harwood.

Brady was born in Galesburg, but moved to Peoria with his family as a child. He graduated from Spalding Institute and was a 1972 graduate of Bradley University.

After graduating from the St. Louis University Law School with his Doctorate of Jurisprudence Law degree in 1981, Brady became an assistant state's attorney in the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office.

In 2011, he was sworn in as the state's attorney after Kevin Lyons became a judge.
