Authorities Seek Cause of Deadly Goodfield Fire

The Woodford County community of Goodfield is still largely trying to understand a fire that killed five people Saturday night.

69-year-old Kathryn Murray, 34-year-old Jason Wall, 2-year-olds Rosa Alwood and Damien Wall and 1-year-old Ariel Wall were killed in the blaze. Two others were treated and released from a Peoria hospital. All seven victims are related.

The fire was reportedly well underway before it was discovered about 11:00 Saturday night. Neighbors described the fire as an “inferno.”

Woodford County Coroner Coroner Tim Ruestman says the preliminary cause of deaths is fire-related, but he declined to release the information since the investigation is pending.
