A 26-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for the fatal hit and run on Farmington Road in West Peoria over the weekend.
Amanda Boyer was taken into custody at her home in the 5700 block of North Western without incident. Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell says Boyer also cooperated with the investigation.
39-year-old John Lackey died early Sunday morning. Lackey was found lying on Farmington Road near Swords Avenue around 2:30 a.m. It’s unclear why he was walking in the area at that time, but his address is listed as 2900 West Farmington Road.
The Peoria County coroner says Lackey likely died instantly of blunt force injuries to his head and chest.
Amanda Boyer is facing felony charges for fleeing the scene of fatal accident. She’ll make her first court appearance Wednesday.
