Services Set for Murdered Princeville Couple

Bradley University

A memorial service is set for the Princeville couple found dead in the Spoon River last week.

Visitation for Dr. Susan Brill de Ramirez and Antonio Ramirez Barron will take place Saturday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wright and Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the same location.

The Bradley University employees, both 63, were found last Tuesday near the Route 78 Spoon River bridge north of Laura. The couple were last seen October 25. Their adopted son called authorities to their rural Princeville home three days later on the report of a burglary.

21-year-old Jose Ramirez is charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents. 20-year-old Matthew Roberts of Princeville is facing the same charges.

The two allegedly confessed to their participation in the murders. Each are being held in the Peoria County Jail on a $3-million bond.
