UnityPoint Health-Pekin Sees Significant Makeover

UnityPoint Health-Pekin

UnityPoint Health-Pekin is getting a series of updates.

The renovations include updates to lobby that will bring admitting, registration, medical records, and the cashier up to the front of the hospital. The labs and diagnostics are also moving up-front for easier access.

Debbie Simon is the Regional CEO of UnityPoint Health. She says the renovations to the so-called contact-services and the lobby is just the beginning of about $8-million of updates.

"The other part of our project is moving into what is Park Court, which is our physician building. That will be renovated for specialists of which we have several there now. We are adding to that community,” Simon said.

The Emergency Department is also getting some updates and additional imaging to ease the turn-around with patients scheduling necessary tests.

The renovations are expected to be complete in 2020.

UnityPoint-Pekin is also completing its transition to the region’s most common patient record-keeping system called Epic. That transition goes live at 5 a.m. Sunday.
