The Peoria Police Department has narrowed the list of people suspected in the disappearance of Alexis Scott. The 20-year-old Peoria woman went missing after attending a party on September 23, 2017.
Interim Police Chief Loren Marion says nine people have been questioned and 19 search warrants have been issued. He made his comments Wednesday in a lengthy press conference that was called hours after community members voiced concerns about Scott’s case at last night’s Peoria City Council meeting.
Marion says Alexis Scott is still listed as a missing person, and he’s asking for the public to come forward with information.
"We’re following up on everything. But just the request for the community assistance-and hopefully this will reach someone and they say, ‘you know what, it’s been almost a year, so it’s been long enough and I’m going to step forward and help out,'"says Marion.
Investigators confirm a mattress and carpet from the house at 125 West Richmond where Scott was last seen were burned the day after she went missing. Lieutenant Mike Boland says people who attended the party at that house are key witnesses.
“We have the players involved in the case. And, we’re pretty confident that the people that are involved in her disappearance whether she is still alive or she isn’t, is stemming from that party and the people involved,”says Boland.
Alexis Scott’s life was complicated before she went missing, as she appeared in Backpage and Craigslist postings. It’s unclear if those posts are directly related to her disappearance.
