It’s still unclear what the cause of death was for the 47-year old man found unresponsive in downtown Peoria Saturday evening.
Emergency medical responders report they found Kevin West, not breathing, slumped forward like he had been sitting on the curb about 7:40 at the corner of Adams and Liberty Streets. The man had been passing through a parking lot and not a patron of the building closest to where he was found, which happens to be Lover’s Playground.
Medics administer CPR and advanced life support, including Narcan to no success. West’s last known address was the Salvation Army Safety Net Homeless shelter.
The Peoria County Coroner says preliminary autopsy finding were inclusive. That rules major medical episodes like heart attack or stroke. The coroner’s office says toxicology tests are still pending. That could take as long as a month.
