Peoria Police are investigating the death of 49-year-old Ronald Harris. Harris was found Monday about 10:40 a.m. at 1004 W. Virginia.

Police and Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood have been nonspecific on the kind of injuries that caused Harris’s death.

Harwood says the exact cause was not immediately clear. “You know he is fully clothed. We want to make sure that when we take him back for autopsy, that's when we undress and start that forensic exam/ it’s done forensically and everything is preserved for the chain of evidence for everything such as that.”

Harwood says it appears Harris had been there for more than 12 hours. Peoria Police were initially called to the residence on the report of a burglary. Lieutenant Mike Boland says that matter is also still unclear.

“We don’t know if anything was taken, what may be out of position or in position. So we are not going to speculate on that at this point, but we do know that we’ll investigate as a homicide and if it turns out to be part of a burglary, then that will be part of the case as well.”

Boland says there was evidence of entry but it was not forced.
