A man was killed in a house fire last night just before 10 P.M.. Peoria Firefighters and Paramedics responded to 952 S. Shelly St. to find the house fully engulfed. Extra manpower was necessary to knock down the fire.
Firefighters spent 20 minutes working to control the flames before they could enter the residence.
An elderly resident in his 80’s, Allen Smith, was alone at the time of the fire. Smith reportedly had been drinking most of the day and was not able to escape the fire. He was found in the family room of the home.
A female resident had been visiting a neighbor, when she returned to find the house fulling involved in fire.
