Peoria Police Looks to Combat Distracted Driving

Police statewide are targeting distracted driving with special patrols for the rest of the month.

Traffic fatalities are increasing across the country. So Peoria Police are teaming up with IDOT for Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the state’s “Drop It and Drive” campaign. Police are promising if anyone has a phone in one hand they can expect a ticket in the other. That includes texting and any other cell phone use. It’s an effort to reduce the deadly consequences associated with distracted driving. They say, “Don’t let one call wreck it all: Drop It and Drive.” The phrase is part of a public outreach campaign that includes increased patrols and enforcement zones statewide.
