Governor Bruce Rauner is on a campaign tour visiting businesses across the state. He made stops Tuesday in the Chicago, Moline, Rockford, and Peoria.
The first-term Republican toured Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc. in Peoria. Rauner says he visited the heavy-equipment, engineering-solutions business because it’s small business that helps keep the state vital.
He says it’s essential to reduce the state’s regulatory burden on small business to help them grow. “The other key is to reduce the tax burden. We have very high taxes, both income taxes, and property taxes. It not only hurts the small businesses but it hurts the working families of the state. We need to bring down our property taxes so families and workers can have a reasonable cost of living.”

Rauner says the state has added 120,000 jobs to the economy during his time as Governor. But he says it should have grown by half-million jobs. Rauner points to regulations and taxes pushing people to Indiana.
Rauner also continues to villainize long-time House Speaker Mike Madigan. He’s calling on all voters to only support candidates who support term limits.
