Remains Likely Missing Pekin Boy Pending DNA Verification

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department and Pekin Police are working to determine what happened to 13-year-old Robert Bee.

The human skeleton collected from the back yard and neighboring wooded area behind Route 29 & Woodford Drive yesterday is consistent with that of an adolescent male and presumed to be the missing Pekin boy. But that will need to be verified with DNA. The dental record match conducted in the autopsy this morning was not enough to make the declaration. Still investigators are moving ahead with the case.

A trio of police agencies worked the scene Monday, July 24 where Robert Bee's skeletal remains were discovered.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department is asking people to remain patient as they pursue the investigation.

Pekin Police Chief John Dossey says it is also important for people to remain responsible with social media posts. He says when Robert Bee went missing last November police spent too much time going after misconceptions on Facebook.

He says they will continue pursuing leads they receive. He asks people to hold off posting messages that might cost more time in the investigation.
