A power outage in Peoria that was originally attributed to equipment malfunction is now believed to be a case of vandalism.
The outage affected 700 customers in parts of downtown Peoria for more than two hours the morning of Tuesday, July 18.
Ameren Illinois issued a news release indicating equipment at a substation was intentionally damaged, causing the outage.
Peoria Police and Ameren security are investigating. Anyone information is asked to contact the Peoria Police at 673-4521 or Crime Stoppers at 673-9000.
