The five to eight people who put together the non-partisan PIAvotes website have chosen to remain anonymous, with the exception of co-founder and Bradley University graduate student Hannah Ramlo. She says when she moved to Peoria and started looking for candidate information on the February primary, it was all disjointed and hard to find.

Ramlo says news agencies have provided good election content, but there wasn’t a one-stop shop for candidate profiles and voting details.

She says so far they are covering expenses with the help of friends and family.

“As we become a little bit more established we’re hoping to find a way to accept contributions for people who would like to help with the efforts," Ramlo said. "But for people to keep looking at the website even when it’s not an election time because we are going to be making some updates providing hopefully a link for people to be able to contribute.”

Ramlo says so far expenses have included web-hosting, printing and a billboard purchased before the general election.

The website covers the Peoria Mayor’s Race, the district and at-large city council races, Peoria Township and ICC Board of Trustees races.
