If you’ve passed by Peoria’s City Hall in recent weeks, you may have seen people stopping to snap a photo of themselves in front of the red sandstone building. Vanity could be to blame, but it’s likely they’re posing for the Best City Hall bracket competition.

Peoria is competing the final matchup that ends Fri. Aside from the online voting system, cities receive two points for “selfies” taken with the building in the backdrop.

On Thurs., WCBU caught resident Andrew Barra posing for the “perfect shot.”

“Well, I’m trying to be creative with it, cause like, everyone else is doing the standard 'hey, here's me with city hall!', but I’m trying to get the ‘Peoria City Hall Welcomes the IHSA Championship Tournament sign,’” Barra said.

He works for the Convention and Visitor’s Center. Barra says his selfie is working double-duty to promote this weekend’s basketball tournament.

Voting in the City Hall competition, put on by the organization Engaging Local Government Leaders, ends Fri. at 11 pm.
