Environmental Sciences Group Holds Monthly Events Centered on Learning

Facebook

A new group called the Greater Peoria Environmental Sciences Society is offering monthly, family-friendly events at the Mansion in Pekin.

“We said, 'why don’t we bring the adults together and the children together, learn the same basic idea, answer the same basic question, but do it in two very different ways?,'” group member Matthew Hangaman said.

January's meeting looked at why fish don’t freeze in the winter, and February's conversation focused on the local water supply, covering the Pekin and Peoria water treatment systems. The wide-ranging effects of forest fires is the topic scheduled for the March meeting.

The Greater Peoria Environmental Sciences Society meets at the Mansion on Walnut in Pekin on the third Thursday of the month at 6 pm.
