A medical simulation lab in Peoria is the testing site for new anatomy specimens that reduces its reliance on cadavers for dissections.
Jump Trading Simulation Center’s corporate arm reached an agreement with the German company Gubener Plastinate Gmbh to use the company’s realistic silicone specimens for anatomy education. Jump is a collaboration between OSF Healthcare and the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria.
Jump says in a news release the new technology can be used in place of human cadavers in some cases, which would cut costs for anatomy education.
The products, called the von Hagens Plastination, will be unveiled by SIMnext LLC at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare on Saturday in Orlando.
