Eeten Runs for Tazewell County Sheriff

Tanya Koonce

Pekin Police Detective Mike Eeten is running for Tazewell County Sheriff. Eeten, who also serves as the public information officer for the Pekin Police Department, made the announcement today. He says he’s filed his Republican candidacy and campaign committee structure with the state board of election.

Eeten has been a police officer for more than a decade, and previously operated a sound and light business in Bloomington. Eeten is also the Crimestoppers Coordinator for Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties. Tazewell County Sheriff Bob Houston is serving his fifth term in the post.

If Houston runs for a sixth term, Eeten and Houston will have a 2018 Republican primary.
