The Illinois State Police have issued an Endangered Missing Person Advisory on the 13 year-old Pekin boy who ran away 10 days ago.
Pekin Police also renewed their request Monday for the public’s help in locating Robert Bee.
Bee's mother reported him as a runaway Friday November 18th after he didn't show up for school, and a truancy officer with police went to his home to issue a ticket.
Pekin police say the drop in temperatures and medical issues have Bee officially listed as a missing and endangered juvenile. Chief John Dossey says they have received and looked into 30-tips, but none have turned up leads on his whereabouts.
Dossey says the runaway classification doesn’t change the way they investigate a missing person case. “It is important not to believe everything you read on social media unless it comes from a reliable source like our facebook site. There appears to be a host of people citing their own theories which can quickly cloud our investigative efforts.”
Pekin Police worked with Illinois State Police to issue the Endangered Missing Person Advisory. An Amber Alert was not initially issued because Bee’s disappearance does not meet the criteria of an abduction.
Pekin Police Public Information Officer Mike Eeten says Crime Stoppers is also issuing a reward for information leading to Bee’s return home. “This gives a platform to people who do not want us to know who they are when they give us their information. So we want to get that information out there. There is a $1000 reward for information that leads us to finding Robert Bee.”
Eeten says they believe somebody knows something about Bee’s whereabouts. People can call Crimestoppers at 673-9000 or text 274-637 and enter GPCS before entering their message.
