Through Rain and Storm, Patriot Guard Stands Alongside Police Department

If you were driving on SW Adams in Peoria during Wednesday's rainstorm, you may have noticed a number of motorcycles, and people holding American Flags in front of the Peoria Police Department.

Mike Egan is with the Patriot Guard. He says the group, mostly made of veterans, thought the flagline was in order. “The law enforcement community lost five officers last week in Dallas. But officers give their lives, work hard on the job every day. We just felt it was time for those of us who support law enforcement to show our respect.”

Egan says social media makes it too easy to make immediate judgements in the court of public opinion. He says the best the Patriot Guard may be able to offer is the show of support.

“I think people need to understand law enforcement does good things for us and they keep us safe. Are all officers perfect? No, but none of us are perfect. I just think they’ve been getting a bad rap lately  And we just wanted to let them know, our support.”

The Patriot Guard flagline was in front of the Peoria Police Department, from about 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. They are considering another flagline Thursday for those who wanted to participate but were concerned the weather conditions.
