Illinois Secretary of State calls for organ donors

The Illinois Secretary of State is making his annual organ and tissue donor pitch during National Donate Life Month. Jesse White visited the Peoria Driver Services facility Wednesday to encourage people to become organ and tissue donors. Secretary White says it’s a chance to be a hero.

“When you sign up you put yourself in a posture by which you can become a hero. And then think about it. You’re no longer here but your organs are still living in the body of someone else. What a gesture.”

White also introduced a counter top pamphlet display for the drivers services facilities that will feature a donor story from the local community. He also gave Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll an award plaque for her dedication to organ and tissue donation.
