The Peoria County Election Commission shifts gear Wednesday into what is called grace period registration.

People can still register but starting today they must cast their ballot at the same time. Tom Bride, the executive director of the Peoria County Election Commission, says there are lots of voting opportunities.

“We’ve got early voting going to the day before. We’ve got grace period going to the day before, and then election day registration in the polling place and if you want to vote by mail you can request a ballot online or you can call us and there’s no excuse anymore," Bride said. "Anybody can vote by mail.”

Bride says there are 117,000 registered voters in Peoria County. He says it’s starting to look like the turnout for this primary might be higher than it's been for the last several presidential elections.
