Engineering and architecture firm relocating to Warehouse District

The old four-story Murray Building situated in Peoria’s Warehouse District is getting a new tenant.

The national engineering and architecture firm Farnsworth Group announced Wed. it's relocating its Peoria offices to the second floor of the building, on the corner of Walnut and Water St.

Farnsworth currently occupies a building on North Knoxville Avenue.

“We hope to be one of the first of many new businesses that want to call the Warehouse District their home.  We envision a bright future for this area of Peoria," Group President and CEO Karen Jensen said in a news release.

Farnsworth isn’t a stranger to the neighborhood. The firm participated in a Warehouse District streetscape design contest last April. Farnsworth says it plans to continue working with the  Peoria Downtown Development Corporation to revitalize the area.

Farnsworth Group Incorporated says it employs 80 people locally and more than 450 professionals nationwide.

The Murray Building was built in 1930. Rhodell Brewery is housed on the first floor.
