The Peoria Community Against Violence initiative partnered with a local salon Monday to help people get a job. Employees at Identity Salon on Prospect Road volunteered their time to give free haircuts to people seeking employment. Cosmetologist Alyssa Hartl says offering free haircuts can play a big role in getting a job:
“Usually when you’re more well put together, you definitely have more self-confidence, so if you feel like you look better then you’re definitely going to look better in an interview.”
Hartl says the salon also has given free haircuts for the Children’s Home and veterans to help give back to the community.
