Park Board Looks At Proposed Luthy Botanical Garden Cuts

The Peoria Park District is proposing to cut two growing houses at Luthy Botanical Garden and eliminate admission fees at the site.  Those were among the proposed budget changes from staff to tackle a projected $255,000 deficit.   District Executive Director Bonnie Noble says the budget reflects steep cuts last year, like closing Donovan Golf Course:

“This budget is an even better budget because we were able to cut expenses and I think people are still going to be really happy.”

Other proposed cuts include turning the Botanical garden Gift Shop into exhibit space, and moving staff out of the former I-DOT building.  The Board will likely take final action on the proposed spending changes - or any new suggestions - by mid-November.
